Compensation Rate:
Compensation range is $38.05 - $40.69 per hour, based on experience. Hourly employees receive an additional 11.2% pay in lieu of vacation and general (statutory) holiday entitlements.
Hours Per Week:
Full-time (36.25 hours per week). Some early morning, evening, or late-night hours may be required, dependent on the Legislature Session Schedule.
Additional Information:
The NDP Caucus of Alberta is seeking a project analyst to provide research, communications, outreach, stakeholder relations, and administrative support for the members of the NDP Caucus in their parliamentary and committee activities. This is a temporary position from approximately December 4, 2024, to June 16, 2025. Availability during early mornings and late nights may be required, depending on the Legislature Session schedule. This position requires onsite work at the NDP Caucus Office, located at the Queen Elizabeth ll Building (formerly The Edmonton Federal Building) in Edmonton, Alberta.
The successful candidate will be asked to prepare communications products such as briefing notes, press releases, speaking notes, and public correspondence. They will provide thorough, timely, and accurate information and notes for MLAs and assist in investigating, analyzing, and liaising with stakeholders on a wide range of public policy issues.
As part of a dynamic team, the Legislative Project Analyst will also function as a floating support worker for various departments, assisting with matters that arise from larger projects and ongoing daily operations.
An ideal candidate will have:
- Familiarity with parliamentary processes
- Strong skills in written and oral communications, administration, and logistical coordination
- Excellent research skills utilizing a variety of research methods
- Experience researching and preparing background, briefing, and speaking notes
- Experience in stakeholder relations
- Excellent relational skills for diverse situations and people
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and summarizing public policy initiatives
- The ability to meet deadlines, work with a minimum of supervision, and work within a fast-paced environment
- Interest in, and knowledge of, Alberta political affairs
- Relevant post-secondary education and training
