Compensation Rate:
Salary range is $25.75-$30.01 based on experience.

Hours Per Week:
MLA Court Ellingson is looking to fill the position of part-time (20 hours per week) constituency assistant in the Calgary-Foothills provincial constituency office. Some work on evenings and weekends will be required.

Overview:
The Constituency Assistant serves as a vital connection between the MLA’s office and constituents, community groups, and stakeholders. Reporting directly to the MLA, and working alongside the Constituency Manager, this role requires a proactive, adaptable, and highly organized individual to manage a diverse range of responsibilities, including community outreach, casework, social media management, office administration, and correspondence.
This position is based in Calgary and involves occasional travel for events and off-site meetings.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required to support the MLA’s schedule and community events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany the MLA to community events, meetings, and activities, including those outside of regular office hours, such as evenings and weekends.
- On occasion, attend events and engage stakeholders on behalf of the MLA or the office.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to foster engagement and collaboration.
- Plan, create, and manage the MLA’s social media presence, including designing posts, editing videos and monitoring platforms.
- Draft and respond to correspondence from constituents, community groups, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate newsletters, announcements, and constituency communications.
- Assist constituents with navigating government services and programs.
- Provide administrative support, including office management and scheduling.
- Organize and execute constituency events, such as town halls and community outreach initiatives.
- Engage with volunteers and constituents in the office and to organize events & outreach.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the MLA.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Communications, Public Relations) or equivalent work experience.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, and social media platforms.
- Experience with digital tools such as CapCut, Adobe Creative Cloud, Meta Business Suite, or equivalent programs is an asset.
- A commitment to community engagement and volunteerism.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s political landscape and the constituency’s history.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend off-site events as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are preferred.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and desire to stretch to achieve your career goals.
