Pay range is $31.06 - 35.63 per hour, based on experience.
This is a salaried position which includes paid vacation, benefits through BlueCross, sick days, appointment time, and compensation for work-related driving.

MLA Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse is looking to fill the position of part-time constituency assistant in the Edmonton-Rutherford provincial constituency office. The position is 3 days per week (7.25 hours per day, 21.75 hours per week). Some work on evenings and weekends required.

Overview:
The Edmonton Rutherford Constituency Office is a hub for the community. We are looking for a kind, dependable person with an excellent work ethic to fill the role of Part Time Constituency Assistant. In this role, you will work primarily alongside the full-time constituency assistant to meet all of the needs of the constituency and MLA. This role is incredibly diverse and we need you to be on time and reliable. Due to the nature of this role presenting new challenges and tasks on a weekly basis, we require someone who can problem solve and work to find solutions.
This position is based in Edmonton at the constituency office and involves somewhat frequent travel for events, off-site meetings and office related errands. As such, vehicle and valid driver's license is a requirement for this role.
Please note that flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required to support the MLA’s schedule and community events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany the MLA to community events, meetings, and activities, including those outside of regular office hours, such as evenings and weekends.
- On occasion, attend events and engage stakeholders on behalf of the MLA or the office.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to foster engagement and collaboration.
- Edit videos for social media using screen recording and Kapwing to caption.
- Draft and respond to correspondence from constituents, community groups, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate newsletters, announcements, and constituency communications. This includes writing the content and deciding how to distribute it.
- Assist constituents with navigating government services and programs such as AISH, AB Works, AHS, and WCB.
- Provide administrative support, including office management and scheduling.
- Organize and execute constituency events, such as town halls and community outreach initiatives. This includes creating graphics, inviting constituents and stakeholders, making shopping lists, buying materials, printing/cutting materials, essentially anything and everything required for a super successful event.
- Engage with volunteers and constituents in the office and to organize events & outreach.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the MLA or full-time constituency assistant.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Human Geography, Sociology) or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s political landscape is an absolute must.
- Trustworthy - we need to know that you can handle sensitive information with respect.
- Reliable and dependable.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to de-escalate high stress situations and meet people where they're at.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High proficiency with MS Office Suite, GoogleWorkspace, Teams, and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn.
- Experience with digital tools such as CapCut, Adobe Creative Cloud, Meta Business Suite, or equivalent programs is an asset.
- A commitment to community engagement and volunteerism.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend off-site events.
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle.
