Jean’s proposed job cuts would put Albertans at risk
EDMONTON – UCP Leadership Candidate Brian Jean needs to tell Albertans which essential public sector positions he would eliminate.
Jean said he plans for $2.6 billion in cuts from the public sector and would eliminate public sector jobs through attrition.[1]
As of October 26th, 2017 there are 68 public sector positions open including:
- Flood Risk Specialist[2]
- Director for Drinking Water and Wastewater[3]
- Health Assessor for children and youth in Fort McMurray[4]
- Child and Youth Care Counselor for High Prairie[5]
“These jobs are essential to public safety and eliminating them would put Albertans at risk. They protect our cities from flooding, keep our drinking water safe, and protect Alberta’s most vulnerable children and youth,” said Lorne Dach, MLA for Edmonton-McClung. “Jean needs to be clear on what safety risks he is willing to make with his proposed cuts.”
