REALITY CHECK: PCs TAKE HARD RIGHT TURN ON IMMIGRATION

EDMONTON – With the selection of social conservative Jason Kenney as leader and Len Thom as PC party president, the PCs have taken a hard right turn on immigration and on welcoming new immigrants to Alberta to build a better province for all.

Kenney’s record on immigration includes 10-year wait times for many family reunifications.[1]

Len Thom, selected by Kenney’s PCs on the weekend as president, endorsed Kellie Leitch as federal Conservative leader on April 15 and fully supports her anti-immigration policies.[2]

Thom called Leitch’s anti-immigration stances “deeply principled” and that her stances to attack the values of immigrants have “greatly helped her bid” for leader.

Kenney’s “big tent” PCs have pushed at least seven progressive voices from his board in order to make space for an anti-immigration party president.
