UCP’s Finance critic spreads theory that climate change is a “complete hoax”
EDMONTON – UCP MLA and Finance critic Drew Barnes is once again denying climate change, spreading theories on social media about climate change being a complete hoax.
Barnes liked a tweet yesterday that said, “Attn Liberals, Global Warming Is A Complete Hoax!”[1] The tweet contained a video from 2013 that said a cold winter meant no climate change. NASA, the world-wide experts on global temperature increases, document that global temperatures have risen consistently since 1999, and last year was the warmest year on record.[2]
This isn’t the first time MLA Barnes has doubted the science of climate change and sought to spread disinformation about his extreme “hoax” ideas:
- He financed a climate change-denying film.[3]
- He attended an event, as a head table guest, of a science-denying fringe group.[4]
- He compared the government’s environment policy to the Ukrainian genocide Holodomor.[5]
The UCP caucus must denounce this latest bozo eruption of Drew Barnes.
