As the MLA for Edmonton-Riverview since 2015, Lori Sigurdson has worked diligently to make life more affordable for Albertans. Her advocacy for appropriate and affordable housing for all Albertans is part of why she was re-elected in 2019 and again in 2023.
Before being elected, Lori spent her life working for her community, developing a strong background in social services. She has been a social worker for over 30 years in a number of fields, and mentors future social workers as an instructor at multiple Alberta post-secondary institutions and as a field placement supervisor.
Lori is committed to community service. She has served as the Vice President of Public Interest Alberta, and has been involved with the Parkland Institute, the Greater Edmonton Alliance, the Mayor’s Task Force for the Elimination of Poverty, and the Alberta College of Social Workers.
Lori has both a Masters and Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary, as well as a Bachelor of Political Science from the University of Alberta. In 2017 she was awarded the John Hutton Memorial Award for social action and policy to recognize her outstanding contributions in this field.
Lori and her three sons are proud to call Edmonton home.
